I have never reviewed a recipe before but felt compelled to do so with this one. I had purchased plain almonds by mistake and looked for something to 'spice' them up. This recipe is wonderful. After I made them, my husband and I stood around the pan eating them by the handful. I thought the amount of cayenne might be too much for us so I reduced it by a bit and increased the chili powder(the real kind from NM) Thanks for a great recipe.

These ROCK! The person who said they were bland was completely nuts! (Excuse the pun!) My Hubby, who LIVES for spicy, actually coughed after eating a couple. For mine, I purchased a HUGE bag from a warehouse store and made all 9 cups at once. I plan on sending some to a friend serving in Iraq and freezing others to use during the holiday season. The combination of sweet and spicy is delicious, even if it sounds a little odd. This is definitely worth trying. I plan on having almonds on hand just to be able to whip this up at a moment's notice.

These were great! I made them for a christmas party, and they were a big hit. My husband loves the spice, I like the sugar! I was expecting the sugar to melt on the nuts, but it doesn't, it's more like a sprinkling, very tasty!!!

These have quite a ZING to them. I baked them 45 minutes, stirring once in the middle. I made up 10 batches to give out as Christmas gifts.

The almonds were very good. Not as spicy as I expected but I was fine with that as I don't like really spicy food anyway. I'm planning on giving some away as gifts and think they will be a big hit.

I can't believe anyone thought this recipe was bland! The spice blend is delicious and unique. The only issue I have with this recipe is time needed for baking. I'd double it to an hour and maybe crank the temp up a bit if your oven runs a bit cool. Just keep an eye on it every 10 minutes after the first 30.

I had a surplus of almonds after buying a bunch on sale after the holidays! This recipe made them SO much yummier! I substituted melted butter for the oil, that was the only change I made...they are the perfect mix of sweet and spicy. My kids didn't care for them but my hubby and I were glad-more for us!!! They did stick to the pan a bit, even with a greased pan and many stirrings but I can deal with a messy pan for a yummy treat!
