Houston, Texas

Named after General Sam Houston, Houston is the largest city in the state of Texas. Other factoids also put the city at the top of the heap: it’s the 4th largest city in the US; the theater district has the second largest number of theater seats in a downtown area; it’s home to the largest medical center in the world—and the city’s temperature really gets up there too. Houstonians take refuge in the 11,000 air-conditioned restaurants, eating out more than any other city’s residents—and for good reason. Houston’s Tex-Mex is about as good as it gets, and there’s a reason people can’t stop talking about Texas BBQ.

Deluxe Chocolate Marshmallow Bars

Reviewed on Aug. 26, 2008 by mommyluvs2cook
These tasted really good, but I followed what someone else said and just used a 9x13 pan I couldn't get the cake part to cook right, but I thought maybe it's supposed to be that way and finished the recipe. Hoping it would fix itself by refridgerating over night...well it didn't. The middle part was to gooey to eat but the outside edges were edible. Tasted great and can't wait to try in a jelly roll pan next time.

Linguini with White Clam Sauce

Reviewed on Aug. 26, 2008 by KRANEY
Wonderful! This was my first time to make clam sauce, and it was so good! I cut down on the fat by using only 2 Tbl. olive oil, and skim milk. I read other reviews and decided to cut way down on the clam juice (I used 3 Tbl.), then added 1/2 cup of wine. Very quick and easy recipe. Serve with a side of steamed broccoli and crusty bread. Thanks for sharing!

Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed on Aug. 25, 2008 by Salsamm7
Finger Lickin Good. Even though I had to make a few substitutions these ribs where damn good. I didn't have the chile sauce so I used what I did have on hand and that was 1/4 cup of mild pace picante sauce and to keep it spicy 1/4 cup of chipotle tobasco. I also didn't have the dry mustard so I substituted with 2tsp of prepared mustard. All in all these ribs still turned out excellent. Another note, I didn't not marinate my ribs. Like others I simply boiled them for 2 1/2hrs. Then I baked them at 350 degrees coverd for 30mins, 30mins uncovered, and broiled 5mins per side at 400 degrees all the while basting with the marinade. Recipe has already mades it way into my "Favoretes" cookbook. Thanks for the entry.
