Black Forest Cake I

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
Very good for a black forest recipe. Made it for my birthday and was very happy with the results. Adding shaved chocolate on top or chocolate chips in the cake would make a wonderful addition.

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
I will never EVER make any other stuffing ever again! I decided against the turkey sausage as i thought it would be too much turkey inside the turkey. Instead i used ground pork. I kept to the rest of the recipe. For the bread, i used whole wheat and Challah (i still had some left over from the holiday... I celebrate Canadian thanksgiving in October). All in all, if you want to impress people at the dinner table, make this moist, and flavourful stuffing.

Roasted Winter Squash Seeds

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
Brought it to work and was first met with "eeeeeeeewwwwwsss" until they tasted it and then went "MMMMMM!!!!". A good snack, and something contructive for the seeds of my winter squash meals.

Cream Peas

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
Reminded my husband of his childhood when he used to eat creamed peas and toast. Loved it. A make-again recipe.

Fluffy Pancakes with Wheat Germ and Applesauce

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
okay for homemade pancakes. Not as fluffy as i wold have liked it to be though. Maybe it was my fault, but the store mixes have 10x more bubbles than what these made. good flavor and texture though.

Orange Glazed Carrots

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
I had to add corn starch to make it less runny and stick to the carrots better. Otherwise it tastes like carrots in hot orange juice. Thickening agent is a must.

Grandma's Polish Perogies

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
very tasty. Did not use the powdered cheese. The dough was one of the best ones i've used. Very stretchy yet firm. Holds its ground when you pull it out on a perogi maker.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
Rave Review from me. Best lasagna from scratch i have ever made. I used spicy sausage instead of sweet. Gave it a spicier taste without overwhelming it. I added spinach to the riccota cheese to give more veggies and omitted the parm cheese (i'm too poor to afford three cheeses). My husband loved it. Made it for my birthday, best birthday food ever. I complimented the lasagna with a traditional greek salad and a glass of red wine. Would go well with homemade whole wheat bread if one had the time.

Veneto Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
Very good base recipe but gave it 4 stars because I made changes. I added artichoke hearts, 1 tablespoon of sugar, garlic and more oregano. With these changes it made it a more balanced, less acidic dinner. I served it over rice, it was a nice dinner.

Sour Cream Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
Great recipe! A few changes I made; I tried using whole wheat flour for half of the flour called for, turned out really well, still really moist. Also, I used loaf pans ( one recipe fills a large loaf pan or two small) so baking time was increased by 15-20 minutes. And the most important change; put 3/4 of the cinnamon sugar in the middle layer. This one's going in my recipe binder!!!

This recipe was good. Quite time consuming, but with more practice I think the timing and results will improve.
